Development of a point-kinetics model in OpenFOAM, integration in GeN-Foam, and validation against FFTF experimental data

Following the growing interest that we observe in use of OpenFOAM for nuclear reactor analysis, current work presents a point-kinetics model and associated open-source code can easily be integrated existing thermal–hydraulic solvers to streamline multi-physics investigations. As proof concept, have new solver GeN-Foam multiphysics platform, validated it against past experimental measurements from Fast Flux Test Facility, 400 MW (th) Sodium-cooled Reactor located at Hanford Site, Washington, USA. Both steady-state transient simulations provide satisfactory results, also view previous studies with other codes. Overall, developed its integration proven suitable system-level investigation transients, thus enabling more widespread by community major toolkit like OpenFOAM.
